Veg Manchurian is a popular Indo-Chinese dish that consists of deep-fried vegetable balls in a savory and tangy sauce. Here is the recipe for making Veg Manchurian:
Ingredients for vegetable balls:
1 cup finely chopped cabbage
1 cup grated carrot
1/2 cup finely chopped capsicum
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup corn flour
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Ingredients for sauce:
2 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon chili sauce
1 tablespoon tomato sauce
1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
1 tablespoon corn flour
1 cup water
Salt to taste
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients for vegetable balls except oil. Mix well to form a dough-like mixture.
Make small balls out of the mixture and keep them aside.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, gently drop the vegetable balls and fry until golden brown. Remove and keep aside.
In another pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add chopped garlic, ginger, onion, and capsicum. Stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
Add soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato sauce, black pepper powder, and salt. Mix well.
In a small bowl, mix corn flour and water to form a slurry. Add this slurry to the sauce and stir continuously.
Bring the sauce to a boil and simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens.
Add the fried vegetable balls to the sauce and mix well to coat the balls with the sauce.
Turn off the heat and serve hot with fried rice or noodles.
